Overcoming Societal Expectations: The Struggle for Women Entrepreneurs in Eastern Europe by Emancip8 Project
by Emancip8 Project Eastern Europe, a region marked by socio-economic transformation and growth, faces unique challenges in fostering gender equality among entrepreneurs. Women in these countries confront pervasive societal expectations and systemic barriers that hinder their entrepreneurial pursuits. This article examines the multi-layered struggles faced by women entrepreneurs in Eastern Europe and highlights the importance of implementing targeted policies and interventions to empower these individuals. Cultural norms and gender roles significantly impact women’s opportunities in Eastern Europe (Pascall & Lewis, 2004). Traditional beliefs often relegate women to caregiving roles, hindering their ability to engage in entrepreneurial activities.
